'Sustain pedal'
modification |
|
|
| |
| |
|
| |
Sustain pedal for electric piano simply holds the notes until the pedal
is being pressed. These long notes therefore sound exactly the same, but
simply last longer. I have written some additional code in order to get
more natural and musical effect. |

Adaptive 'gain
envelope' parameters |
|
|
| |
| |
|
| |
You ever wished, the sound of
the instruments would be wide and open when you play slow and dreamy,
but immidiately become short and sharp when you perform the fast
passages? |

Human breath
control |
|
|
| |
| |
|
| |
Observing the breathing can be
usefull as well. It offers us valuable information about ourselvses,
our physical and emotional state. In this example I simply use it to
control the choirs. I try to make them breathe with me. |

Aftertouch
control |
|
|
| |
| |
|
| |
Many keyboards offer aftertouch sensitivity, but rarely anyone uses it.
You can use aftertouch to control anything you like; drumming styles or the
ambient sounds, maybe trigger few arpeggios... |

Aftertouch
layering |
|
|
| |
| |
|
| |
If we go furher and divide
aftertouch pressure into many layers, it gives us the possibility to
play multi-layered voices, playing different instruments with different
aftertouch pressure. Ever wanted to play three different choirs AND a
Soprano soloist.. all at once? |

Tempo following |
|
|
| |
| |
|
| |
It is a common practice to put on some drum loop and simply
play-with-it. But hey, the loop doesnt play-with-me, it stays at 120bpm
all the time no matter what I do. Lets try to make this machine listen. |

Shuffle/Swing
following |

|

You ever played with a
straight 4/4 loop and you started swinging it badly? Let me guess.. the
loop didn't swing with you, did it? We kinda got used to it.
The computers dont swing... Or do they? |

Emotion
recognition |
|
|
| |
| |
|
| |
It is fairly simple to
observe few basic feelings of a performer. Emotions like FEAR and ANGER
can easily be analysed from a midi performance. These emotion parameters
can then of course be used to controll ANY of the performance parameters
- ambient sounds, drumming styles, gain envelopes, filter envelopes,... |

Harmony

|
|
| |
| |
|

Observing harmonic content
can open many new possibilities for diagnosting musical performance and
designing automatic accompaniment systems. To be honest, I am not too good
at it currently. |
